Street Praise News

Ordination Ceremony Set
Redeeming Hope Through Christ Outreach Ministry will have an ordination service for Pastor Phyllis McAllister and Co-Pastor Ruth Wynn on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Faith, Hope & Charity. Bishop Governor Davis will preside.

Youth Explosion Sunday
There will be a Youth Explosion on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Deliverance Church Inc. All area churches are invited to participate, including choirs, mimes, praise dancers, step teams, flag teams, etc. There will also be a fashion show. The dress is casual. Holy Mission Powerhouse News
Tonight through Sunday, Apostle R. DeGraffenried will be in New Bern with Solid Rock PH Church Conference retreat. She will speak Saturday at the funeral for “I Can’t.” She is the eulogist.

Fish, Shrimp Supper Set Saturday
Ebenezer United Methodist Church in the Bentonville community will have a fundraising fish and shrimp supper on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bentonville Community Building, located on Devil’s Race Track Road. Plates are $8 and dine-in is “all you can eat” fish, shrimp or a combination. Eat-in plates for children 12 and younger are $4. All take-out plates are $8. The “Country Store” at the supper will feature homemade cakes, pies, candy, cookies and other goodies. Ebenezer’s cookbooks will also be available at the Country Store.

Spring Revival Starts April 27
Walker’s Chapel United Holy Church will have spring revival April 27-May 1 at 7:30 nightly. The speaker will be Pastor Angelo Surles from St. James Disciple Church in Benson. The Dunn United Ministerial Association (DUMA) will meet Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Divine Street UM Church for prayer and final planning for the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. The election of new officers at the May meeting will also be discussed. All area pastors and ministers are invited.

Musical Program At Spring Hill
There will be a musical program Sunday at 4 p.m. at Spring Hill FWB Church. The program is sponsored by Eva McQuire for the Pastor’s Aide.
On May 3, a Mission March will be held at 3 p.m. at Spring Hill FWB Church. Elder Sharon Gainey and the Warren Chapel Choir will render the service.

Buffet Breakfast At Calvary Baptist
Calvary Baptist Church will sponsor a country buffet breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10:30 a.m. The menu will consist of country ham, link sausage, bacon, grits, eggs, homemade biscuits, jellies, molasses, coffee and juice.
Donations are accepted for the meal. The church is located seven miles east of Dunn on N.C. 55 near the N.C. 242 intersection. Dr. Paul Johnson is the pastor.

Homecoming Celebration Set May 3
The 193rd anniversary and homecoming will be celebrated May 3 at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Linden. Former pastor, the Rev. Joseph L. Hester, will be the speaker.
Church school will begin at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11. Dinner will follow in the fellowship hall.

Father, Son And Holy Ghost Service Set

Yard Sale Saturday
The Youth Department of Burning Bush Church will have a yard sale/ticket sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The yard sale will include houseware items, infant and children’s clothes, furniture, women’s clothes and more.
Tickets will be sold for $1 each. First prize is $50; second prize, $30; and third prize, $25. The drawing will be May 24. You do not have to be present to win.

Homecoming Celebration At Fellowship Baptist
A homecoming celebration will be held May 2 and 3 at Fellowship Baptist Church. The event begins May 2 at 7 p.m. with an evening of southern gospel music featuring Driven Quartet and The Taylors.  Driven Quartet is currently touring throughout the United States and Canada and has recently charted with their hit single “Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” The Taylors, having recently returned from their Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma tour, have also nationally charted with their current single, “My Heart Was Made For Heaven.” Homecoming will continue Sunday morning with guest speaker, Don Bowen, of Warsaw, Va. Spring Mega Fair Sunday At Our Lady Of Guadalupe
On Sunday, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Newton Grove will have its annual Spring Mega Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be lots of carnival rides including: The Iron Man Obstacle Course, Triple Bungee Run Challenge, King Kong Triple Slide, Jungle Island Bounce ’n Slide, and Basketball Challenge. There will be plenty of other games, face painting and other activities for the teens and kids, a silent auction, cake walk, 50/50 raffle, race car on display and food.
There will be a wide variety of Hispanic foods, as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, cotton candy, barbecue sandwiches, baked goods, etc. Proceeds will go to pay for the church’s latest building.

Gospel Set At Angier Baptist
The congregation at Angier Baptist Church invite the community for a time of praise and worship at a gospel concert Sunday at 7 p.m. It is being held to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event, hosted by the Angier Baptist Church Relay For Life Team, will feature Nashville recording artist Erica Jones and local Christian singing artist Rod Propes. Admission is free but a love offering will be taken with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and Harnett County Relay For Life. Spring Revival At St. Matthew
St. Matthew PFWB Church will hold its spring revival April 26-30. The guest speaker is the Rev. Dwayne Gregory. Married 20 years to his wife, Amy, they have two children Olivia and Jacob. The Gregory family is from the Christian Light Community in Harnett County. Since accepting the call into ministry, Rev. Gregory has spoken at many local churches and has been on mission trips to Guyana and Trinidad. The revival begins on Sunday  at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. The members and friends of McNeil Memorial RFWB Church will celebrate the eighth anniversary of Pastor Leroy McFadden, right, on Sunday at 11 a.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. St. Stephen’s To Observe Men’s Day
St. Stephen’s Disciples of Christ Church will observe Men’s Day Sunday at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Elder Eric L. Thornton of Dunn. Music will be provided by Point Level Disciples of Christ Church Male Choir of Clinton.
A fellowship lunch will be served following the service.

Missions Conference At Coats Community
Coats Community Church will have its annual Missions Conference Sunday through Wednesday. Services will be Sunday at 6 p.m., Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10.
There will be several mission programs represented including Obed Missel from Orissa, India, where prosecutions have been going on. Also, Larry Lamina from Ghana, South Africa, will be there.

Biker Sunday At Coats COG

Coats Church of God, 223 S. Isabella St., will host Biker Sunday this  Sunday for the 10:45 morning service. The focus will be to increase local awareness of the Christian Motorcycle Association’s (CMA) missionary efforts, the annual ‘Run for the Son.’ All bikers are welcome with their bikes. Immediately after the service, all church members and guests will enjoy a hot dog and hamburger fellowship. Then the bikers will ride. The C&H Puppet Team shared a skit, ‘No Eraser,’ featuring Lizzie, played by Kayla Hickok, and Alex, played by Austin Whitman. A spelling contest was held March 28 at the Dunn District Union. Makala McKoy of Dunn Chapel Church won first runner-up. Bryce Nelson was first runner-up with the competition at Dunn Chapel. McMillan & Life In Concert At Savannah Hill PFWB

McMillan & Life will be in concert Sunday at 11 a.m. at Savannah Hill PFWB Church. The group was made known by their ‘Go Tell The World.’ The host pastor is Jim R. Jones. The church is located on N.C. 55, about six miles outside Dunn toward Newton Grove. A love offering will be received for the group.

Freddie Pierce, a Christian comedian, along with his ‘wooden friends,’ ‘Deacon’ Earl and ‘Preacher’ E.G. Gladhand, and others will perform at Pentecost Worship Center on Sunday at 6 p.m. Mr. Pierce has entertained with his music, impersonations and ventriloquism all over the country including ‘Singing In The Sun’ at Myrtle Beach, S.C., the ‘Gatlinburg Gathering’ in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and for Presidents Reagan and Bush. This is Pentecost Worship Center’s 22nd anniversary. The event is free, however, a love offering will be received. Pentecost Worship Center is located at 2744 Ross Road in Lillington. Long Branch Church To Present Easter Musical

The members of the Long Branch Church Choir, Handbell Choir, Ensemble, Drama Team  and Dance Team will present a joint musical, “The Easter Song — Believe,”  during the morning worship service Sunday at 10 in the church sanctuary. This is a dramatic musical with several short scenes of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Mary anointing his feet, healing scenes, Jesus and the children, death and resurrection.
The pastor, Dr. Phil Newton, invites the community. The director of music ministry at the church is Otis Autry.
The handbell choir is directed by Marsha Johnson. They will ring several songs in the musical, including “Processional Alleluia” and “How Beautiful” with the choir.
The ensemble, under the direction of John Page Jr., will also play several songs including Prelude Music, “Word of God Speak,” “I am a Friend of God,” “Sunrise” and “Alive Forever, Amen” with the choir.
The praise dancers, under the direction of Traci Newton, will dance “Word of God Speak.”  The praise dancers are Christen Baggett, Madison Newton and Amanda Michael.    Read the rest of this entry »
