Hinshaw Speaks At Hodges Chapel Ladies Auxiliary Meeting
The Hodges Chapel Ladies Auxiliary meeting was held Nov. 3 and was co-hosted by Pat Ellis, Julia Blackman, and Doris Ennis. Rebecca Tart, president, called the meeting to order. Prayer requests were taken and Pat Ellis led in prayer. Debbie Temple led the ladies in a chorus, “We Are Standing On Holy Ground.”
The guest speaker was Kellie Godwin Hinshaw. She gave her testimony of her life and how God has helped her through every obstacle she and her family have faced.
Mrs. Hinshaw has cancer and she has been in and out of the hospital for the last several years. During each doctor visit and surgery, she has been reminded that God is faithful. She said it was the personal prayer and communion that she exercised daily and her family, friends and the ladies prayer group that reminded her the Lord was in control.
In Jeremiah 18, she talked about the Potter and how God was shaping her life. In Philippians 4:19, she was reminded that God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Then Ephesians 3:20 reminded her that there is nothing that God does not have power in.
On her way to the hospital, a friend met them and gave her a CD that she felt the Lord wanted her to have before going into surgery. The song talked about how God was not through working in her life. After hearing this song, she felt a peace and knew that God was not finished and she would be OK.
Mrs. Hinshaw said her life is like a clay pot that has been broken but it is being put back together the way God would have it. She closed with Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”
The October birthdays were acknowledged and the ladies sang “Happy Birthday” to those present — Lesia Tart, Elsie Holmes, Julia Blackman and Vila Mae McLamb.
The ladies discussed plans for their Christmas gathering which will be held Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned. Afterward the ladies enjoyed refreshments prepared by Pat Ellis, Julia Blackman and Doris Ennis.
