Loretta George's greatest possession is family. Welcoming Loretta home are son's, Tyrell, 16, Chris, 15, Latreil, 13, and nephew Desean Hardy, 15.
Walking into my local Big Lots store I don’t look for the sales flyers or the newest merchandise. Instead, I scan the aisles for Loretta’s bright teeth. On her cashier’s salary, Loretta George is raising four children on her own, yet she seems to be on top of the world. At a time when many are furrowing their brows at rising prices, Loretta has made herself a favorite with her ready smile and encouraging words.

Homeowners Raeford and Connie McLeod and their 18-year-old daughter, Brooke, bow their heads in thanks to God for their newly remodeled home. Grace Chapel Church and the North Carolina Baptist Men gutted and redid the home entirely. ‘It’s better than before,’ Mr. McLeod said. ‘After the fire we found we’d been living with black mold inside the walls, but that’s all gone now.’
When God told Erwin resident, Raeford McLeod, Associate Pastor of Grace Chapel Church, to anoint and pray over his Erwin home he never expected to return to a smelly, charred mess nine hours later.
“I got up around five and did devotion,” he said. “I was putting my Bible back on my nightstand when my eyes fell on this little bottle of anointing oil I keep, but haven’t used very often.”
Mr. McLeod said upon seeing the bottle the thought “you need to get that for something” popped into his head.
“I questioned it a little, but I just felt the Lord was telling me ‘anoint your home before you leave this morning’ so I just set about doing what I was told.”
It’s a very good thing he did.

-Angie Sills

Angie Sills holds a copy of Faith & Hope magazine that featured her life story, ‘Ultimate Makeover.’ The article has prompted an outpouring of gratitude and one cry for help.
I was concerned when I put my life story out there for everyone to see. I knew that the knowledge of where I had been might have an effect on what some people thought of me, especially with me having a business. But God took care of all that. I’ve had cards, comments and phone calls almost non-stop since the first Faith & Hope came out, but not one negative comment. Read the rest of this entry »

Many people refer to Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell as the High Sheriff.
As the chief law enforcement of a population of over 157,000, he presides over a $12 million budget and is just finishing up a yearlong term President of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association. Sheriff Bizzell is a pretty important fellow, but he says there’s a much higher power watching over his county. Here’s his story.
